Individual Counseling
Staff and trained volunteers are available for short-term, in-office crisis counseling (maximum six to eight sessions) to clients dealing with rape, incest or domestic violence. Call the 24-hour crisis lines to make an appointment or walk in during office hours, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Spanish-speaking counselors are available limited hours.
Counselors offer crisis counseling, information, assistance with shelter, emotional support, assistance with Domestic Violence Protective Orders and referrals to other agencies or resources as needed. Our aim is to empower clients in immediate crisis to make informed decisions about their situations, and to offer resources so that they may reach their goals.
Support Groups
Interact offers support and informational groups for women who have experienced or are still experiencing domestic abuse, along with groups for survivors of rape or incest (adults only). For women who are in the domestic-violence support group, a group for their children (ages 5-13) is available in which the children can discuss their feelings about the abuse their mothers have experienced.
Interact also conducts a court-ordered educational and support group for women offenders who have been in abusive relationships. Staff and trained volunteers facilitate the groups. Call the 24-hour crisis lines to register for groups and obtain start dates. Our adult support groups are for women only.
