The Family Violence Prevention Center—InterAct—opened its doors in 1978 to end the cycle of domestic violence and sexual assault in Wake County. Survivors turn to InterAct for crisis intervention and follow-up case management services to build self-sufficient lives and violence-free futures. Transportation can be arranged by speaking with the crisis counselor when making an appointment. Interpretation services are available for non-English speakers.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness for women and their children. Data indicate that one in three women and one in seven men will experience sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

InterAct’s programs have proven outcomes that lead to successful futures for victims. The results are clear.

InterAct’s partnership network includes lawyers, medical professionals, law enforcement, and the courts. InterAct’s shelter works daily with domestic violence providers across the state and the country to relocate victims for shelter and safety. We partner with 100+ community partners to ensure access to the resources victims need.
